The Helena School Board has taken key steps toward advancing district-wide facility improvements following the passage of the September bond measure. During its recent meeting, the board selected an architectural team for upcoming upgrades at Capital High School (CHS) and appointed a new trustee to fill a vacant seat.
Architect Selected for CHS Renovations
More than $59 million from the voter-approved $240 million bond package is designated for renovations and additions at Capital High School. These improvements will address aging infrastructure, deferred maintenance, and opportunities to modernize learning environments for current and future students.
The board selected Slate Architecture + RTA Architects to lead the architectural planning and design for these upgrades. CHS currently has an estimated $14 million in deferred maintenance, highlighting both the urgency and importance of this investment.
New Trustee Appointed
The board also voted to appoint Keith Meyer to fill a vacated trustee position. Meyer, a retired educator and current foundation director at Shodair Children’s Hospital, brings 35 years of experience with Helena Public Schools. His appointment runs until the scheduled election in May 2026.
