The Petroleum County Community Center was designed as a flexible, multi-use facility that supports a wide range of civic, social, and community-driven events. The building is organized around three primary gathering spaces, two of which can combine into a large assembly area accommodating approximately 300 occupants, while a third, smaller gathering room supports more intimate functions.
A centrally located core organizes the kitchen, restrooms, mechanical spaces, and multipurpose room, creating clear circulation and a welcoming entry sequence into the main gathering area. The commercial kitchen supports large events and includes a secure pantry for senior citizen commodities. Storage areas are distributed throughout the building to efficiently support the variety of events.
The exterior architecture draws from Winnett’s rural context and historic fabric while introducing a modern expression through durable, low-maintenance materials. Metal panel siding, fiber cement, stone cladding and a standing-seam metal roof are composed into a barn-inspired form, reinforcing the building’s civic presence. Exposed wood structure, natural light, and heritage-focused interior features—including a donor wall and Petroleum County Heritage display—strengthen the building’s connection to the community it serves.
